Santaland 2023

A ride on the iconic Monorail and a chance to sit on Santa’s lap became a Christmas tradition for many families. Following the closure of Macy’s downtown store (which purchased Meier & Frank in 2005), a small number of items from Santaland were donated to the Oregon Historical Socie...

October 11, 2023, marks the 100th anniversary of Southern Oregon’s most famous true crime case: the attempted robbery of Southern Pacific Train 13 at Tunnel 13 in the Siskiyou Mountains. This crime has been heralded as the last great American train robbery, which is inaccurate on pretty much all counts. In reality, this botched robbery led to the death of four innocent men and the birth of Amer...

It's quite incredible watching osho's quality of listening when the interviewer is speaking, how rare to see someone listening with so much silence, and equanimity, no matter what the intent of the interviewer. I've also noticed that most of the interviewers start with some hostility from their preconceived notions, but their tone changes into love so quickly in his presence. A true master.

I think the people interviewed in this video would be totally shocked today to see how .Portland has digressed and what the legalization of recreational drugs and the soft on crime policies has done to Portland. It seems like half the businesses downtown have closed because of it. Zombies walking around everywhere. Poop and needles on the sidewalks. Plus I see so many cars driving on the roads with their windows smashed out cause their car got broken into. Portlands saving grace is that it is still surrounded by much beauty, but is that enough of a reason to stay?

Institutionalized trauma is still trauma. Yet, non-native people continue to judge tribal members for problems with drugs, alcohol, and violence in the home. Instead, we should see their dignity and perseverance in the face of suffering many non-natives will never know. Healing takes many generations and culturally appropriate support, which 1st people should get to define.

Just watched Wild Wild Country. I felt the only thing that made it feel like a cult is he was called "Bagwan" = God in Hindi, his followers venerated him excessively, there was profit involved, there were labels for the initiated, and the colors / uniforms came across as religious. But fundamentally, Rajneeshpuram feels like the life all of us crave. A close knit community, growing and harvesting your own food, living on the land rent free, being in harmony with nature, not having to prove and validate one's place on the earth, not having to work and grind for big corporations till you die. John Lennon said it best: "Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us, only sky Imagine all the people Livin' for today Ah Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion, too Imagine all the people Livin' life in peace You You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one"

And this magnificent enlightened guru, who was trying to enlighten others as well, he was slow poisoned to death, by USA CIA after falsely implicating him in cases conspired by them and the main culprit his female corrupt egoist secretary sheela Silverman 😮..the culprit shila is roaming free, hale and hearty, to this day, whereas the great guru was framed, ridiculed, and poisoned by USA and the very fanatics in usa, administering him thallium and radiation poisoning 😢...same type of situation, arsenic poisoning administered in the USA, ultimately killed srila prabhupada, iskcon founder.
